| Abstract: | The sympatric occurrence of Nebria (Nebriola) cordicollis heeri K. Daniel, 1903 alongside N. c. gracilis K. & J. Daniel, 1890 in northeastern Switzerland is reported here for the first time. Hitherto both taxa were considered subspecific vicariants of N. cordicollis Chaudoir, 1837. The new findings strongly suggest them to be distinct species, resulting in the promotion of the taxon heeri to species rank: N. (Nebriola) heeri K. Daniel, 1903 stat. nov. Morphologically, N. heeri stat. nov. is distinct from N. cordicollis by its external shape of the median lobe of the aedeagus. Accordingly, N. (Nebriola) cordicollis praegensis Huber & Molenda, 2004 must be treated as subspecific to N. heeri stat. nov.: N. (Nebriola) heeri praegensis Huber & Molenda, 2004 comb. nov. |
