dc.description.abstract | Best Practices of risk assessment techniques are currently challenged at two fronts: On one hand, technical systems are turning into vast and complex entities, when processes become highly automated as highlighted by keywords such as Industry 4.0, Internet of Things (IoT) or Smart Buildings. On the other hand, there are new requirements on risk analysis goals aiming towards socio-technological views, i.e. fromrisk to resilience analyses. R&D projects at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) target to merge both challenges in order to draw a profit in methodological enhancements and practicability of approaches. FRAM (Functional Resonance Analysis Method) is an emergent approach in resilience analysis of complex socio-technical systems. However, a link to analyse risks and quantitative risk assessment is missing. The paper lays methodological foundations for a rule-based concept of a coupled FRAM-FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) approach as well as combining FMEA with common approaches in IT security risk assessment (Use Cases, MEHARI). Two case studies on Smart Buildings illustrate the practicability of the concepts. A literature survey justifies the current propagation of FRAM. The paper addresses relationships of resilience and other system analysis concepts (risk, reliability, Unified Modeling Language). The pros and cons of the combined approaches are discussed. | de_CH |
