Abstract:	Parental mediation has been described as “the parental management of the relation between children and the media” (Livingstone & Helsper, 2008, p. 581) and past research identified different mediation strategies. This presentation will inform about the results of a survey among 563 Swiss parents of primary school children (ca. 6-13 years old) regarding the following questions: which mediation strategies are mostly employed by Swiss parents regarding the use of television, Internet and games? Are there relevant differences between different groups (e.g. language region, age groups)? Which mediation strategies are considered important by Swiss parents? Results will be discussed with regard to the concept of media literacy as parental mediation can also be seen as a means to develop children’s media literacy (e.g. Mendoza, 2009).
