Abstract: A chelating P,O ligand, designed according to recently worked-out mechanistic concepts, converts an unselective first-generation ruthenium carbene complex into a chemoselective ROMP catalyst that assembles an alternating copolymer from a mixture of norbornene and cyclooctene.
