Cultural entrepreneurship, a relatively new phenomenon in science, is examined on a conceptual basis in this study. For this purpose, a proposal for an analysis model was developed based on the much-noted preparatory work of Shane and Ventakaramans’ (2000) business entrepreneurship research and extended to the conditions of the cultural sector. This analysis model for cultural entrepreneurship is applied to a case study entitled "Uli Sigg as a Promoter and Mediator of Contemporary Chinese Art". A comprehensive analysis of the personal motivation and activities of Uli Sigg shows how a project that started as a private initiative became an internationally recognized, unique venture at the service of Chinese contemporary art. His actions were influenced significantly by the framework conditions of the Chinese art world. Conversely, Uli Sigg has had a significant influence on how the Chinese art world has developed.de_CH
