Abstract: This paper gives an overview of the actual status of my dissertation. It discusses how changing a discretionary bonus system into transparent, variable pay for mixed performance (mixed vPfP) affects trust in the employer through its longitudinal conditional effects on overall fairness. A conceptual model and hypotheses are presented based on fairness heuristic theory (FHT). The paper describes the multiphase mixed-method design, considering the different phases of the study (qual>QUAN>qual) and emphasizing the field quasi-experiment as a core component of the study. Finally, initial descriptive quantitative results and post-qualitative findings are presented.
