Abstract: This chapter illustrates key concepts and procedures of media linguistics and explains the key terms of media and media linguistics. It discusses a set of complementary research methods and their potential to close research gaps in the field and outlines the potential outcomes of future research for theory and practice. The chapter deals with methodological sophistication in transdisciplinary medialinguistic research and focuses on empirical data from a research project called Idee suisse and, in particular, on the Leba case study from the project. The first detail from the Leba case that matters is the intertextual chain the journalist draws on. The second detail from the Leba case that matters is the fact that the journalist, in his news item, wanted to abandon the stereotype of violence in Lebanon perpetuated by western media. All of the topics combining media and language have been approached from medialinguistic perspectives.
