Abstract: There have been multiple definitions of the process of knowledge translation (KT). In health care, « knowledge translation is the synthesis, dissemination, exchange, and ethically sound application of knowledge to improve health, provide more effective health services and products, and strengthen the health care system » (Straus, Tetroe & Graham, 2017, p.3). In systems experiencing challenges using evidence, KT is an answer for closing the gap between knowledge and action (Graham et al., 2006). Changing practices and behaviors is a complex process requiring an understanding of the context, the identification of barriers to change and involving the clinicians, clients and policy makers (Davis et al., 2003). Models for knowledge translation exist, which present key elements for successful KT. The workshop will provide examples of the application of KT through an innovative school-based project in Switzerland (Kaelin et al., 2015; 2019). Participants will be invited to reflect in groups on the barriers and facilitators to knowledge use in occupational therapy, and to map KT interventions for OT promotion programs.
