dc.description.abstract | Containerisation and virtualisation are well known techniques for encapsulating applications compiled for very specific versions of operating systems. These techniques are becoming more prevalent in the embedded systems domain, especially those that depend on UNIX-like operating systems. In this presentation we discuss the application of GUIX for the embedded domain. GUIX is designed to build an operating environment, including operating system by scratch. One advantage is that these can potentially be used for dependable systems and/or systems utilising other operating systems than rich operating systems like Linux. We demonstrate this on the basis of a drone-borne sensing platform. This platform incorporates a Raspberry Pi 4 and is used to investigate low-altitude, climate-relevant gases. We also report on experiences storing acquired data on rich databases while applying the necessary data integrity checks. | de_CH |
